UN 2017 Women First 5km

Great Ethiopian Run is celebrating this year it’s 14th edition of the annual Women First 5km, women only run which was started to mark international women’s day fourteen years ago and highlight contribution of Ethiopian women in the society.

The race takes place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 12 March 2017. This run will probably also be your highest-ever 5km race: at 2400m above sea level, Addis Ababa is the third highest capital in the world. It is the biggest women only event in Africa with 11,000 participants.

Race entry fee of £20 includes official race t-shirt, and all finishers will receive souvenir medal. Participants who finish the race in under 35minutes will get Certificate signed by twice Olympic 5000m Champion Meseret Defar.

Please note that race packs for non-residents are not sent out to participants. Participants must collect their packs in race week from Wednesday 8 March to Saturday 11 March 2017 from the race office, Addis Ababa. The latest time for collection is 6pm on Saturday 11th March 2017.
