Helix Park are delighted to be hosting their first Novice Triathlon, supported by Grangemouth Triathlon Club.

This a novice event to give those who have never taken part in a triathlon.  All racing takes part on the Helix Park network. 

This is also a chance to experience open water swim triathlon.  Scottish Swimming are holding coaching sessions on Sunday 22nd May for those who have never experienced open water swimming and looking for some helpful hints and tips.  For information on how to book these sessions please visit Scottish Swimming

For those who are looking to enhance their fitness levels and do some quiality training ( which may be indoors given the good old scottish weather!) Please check out Falkirk Fitness and why not join the gym or attend one of our many regular classes.

We will be holiding and adult  & Youth race (youth's are permitted to race the same distance and course with permission from an parent/ guardian)

We will also be holding a kids race for children aged 9 - 13 years.

 Date – 29th May 2016

 Start Time – 830am (Childrens race Tri stars 11am)

 Registration – 730-815am (Childrens race tri stars 10 – 1030am) @ Helix Park

 Distances – 400 m swim, 9km cycle, 3km run ( tri stars 200/300/300 swim, 3.5/7/7 cycle & 1.2/1.8/1.8 run)

 Car Parking – Falkirk Stadium

 Changing Facilities – Falkirk Stadium (please note there are NO changing facilities at the helix park, toilets will be available)

 Bikes must be in place by 8am (Childrens, tri stars 1030am), all bikes must be fitted with working brakes as well as plugged handle bars.

 Full length wets uits must be worn for the swim section.

 COURSE OVERVIEW

 Swim – Lagoon

 Bike – route will be out and back courses around the south side helix park network as well as partial route on A9

 Transition – Large grass area adjacent to lagoon. (Great Lawn)
Run – route will north side helix path network towards the Kelpies.
Finish – Great Lawn, Helix park

 • Sunday 29th May 2016

  Race start times are as follows:

·        8.30am ( childrens tri stars 11am),

• A compulsory race briefing will be held for all participants.
• Support will be provided from the organisation during the entirety of the event.
• Road safety traffic regulations must be adhered to at all times by participants.
• Dangerous behaviour or breaches to safety will result in immediate disqualification.
• Littering will not be permitted during the race.  Support stations (gels/bars/water) will be provided by the organisers at transition.
   However, we strongly advise that you carry sufficient sustenance on all sections (i.e. food/water).
• The finish line will be at the great lawn in Helix Park

 • Please be courteous to marshals and other volunteers, they have given up time to ensure the event proceeds and their support is invaluable.

 4. Cancellation rules
 Withdrawal, Cancellations or Alterations

4.2 The Event Organiser reserves the right to alter the start time of the Event.  In the event of a change of start time the Participants will be notified of the revised start time with as much notice as reasonably practicable.  No refund in full or in part shall be made for any change in start time for an Event provided the Event takes place on the specified date of the Event.
4.3 The Event Organiser reserves the right to change the date of the Event. In the event of such change of date of the Event, and the Participant is unable to attend on the revised date, he/she has 14 days to inform the Event Organiser in writing from when the change in date is announced to receive a refund of  their Entry Fee.
4.4 The participant shall receive a 50% refund for withdrawal from the event should withdrawal occur more than 8 weeks prior to the event date.
4.5 The participant shall receive a 25% refund for withdrawal from the event should withdrawal occur 4 – 8 weeks prior to the event date.
4.6 The participant shall receive no refund for withdrawal from the event should this occur less than 4 weeks prior to the event date.
4.7 All withdrawal requests must be received in writing to [email protected]
to be considered and processed for approval, upon receipt of a written withdrawal request this date will be used to calculate the refund authorised. Payments will be issued within 28 days.
 4.8 The Event Organiser reserves the right to amend the Event format at their sole discretion (such as by way of illustration from a Triathlon to a Dual Discipline Event or other suitable race format) or cancel the Event due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control or for any safety related reason. In the event of the Event being cancelled it shall provide the Participant with a full refund with no further liability whatsoever arising from such cancellation. If the event is changed to a Dual Discipline Event or other format the Participant will not be entitled to any refund and there shall be no further liability whatsoever arising from such change of format.
 
5. General Rules

Equipment
Start number must be worn on the back during the entirety of the bike section and in front during the run section.
Bikes must be checked and of an appropriate standard for racing.
Helmets are compulsory and must be of an appropriate standard for racing. 

Strictly no drones or hoverboards are permitted within the park.

 Medical
Medical crew and marshals appointed by the organisers may withdraw any athlete from the race should they feel that there is a major health or injury risk at any time during the race.
 
Rules on the swim leg.

 The swim course will take place within the lagoon. 

 •All competitors must wear their designated cap colour at all times

 •All competitors must wear a full body wetsuit.

 Rules on the bike leg
 
The bike course is open to normal traffic. Road safety regulations must be adhered to at all times.

• No obstructions to traffic.
• The use of electrical equipment is prohibited.
• Drafting is prohibited.

 • Bike helmet must be worn at all times

 • Bike must have full working breaks and plugged handle bars

 • Race number to be displayed on back at all times.
    
Rules on the run leg
 
The run course is open to normal traffic on road sections. Road safety regulations must be adhered to at all times.

 • Ensure you remain on the right side of the road during any road sections.
• The use of electrical equipment is prohibited.

 • race number to be displayed on front at all times.
  

6. Feed stations on the Run
 
Athletes are essentially self
supported however there will be organiserprovided aid stations on the bike leg for competitors.
