This is a Team event with 3 people per team.

2 age groups: 8-12 years  on the day of the competition OR 13 -16 years on the day of the competition. Teams can be mixed girls/boys

Open Age Group Team - Age 8 Years +

Medals will be awarded to each participant with top 3 teams teams in each category winning a special prize.

Each member of the team will run 1400 metres and then swim 300 metres before passing the "baton" to their team member. Each team will be timed by an official and prizes awarded according to these times. 

Registration will take place at Larkhall Leisure Centre Main Hall area between 8.45 and 9.40am. Race numbers will be allocated to each team along with a "baton" and safety pins.

Race Briefing - will be at 9.45am

Race Start - this will be staggered depending on the number of teams and the first teams will start at 10.15am

Race Format - 

  • Run 1400m/Swim 300m for each member of the team.
  • 3 athletes per team
  • The first athletes in each team will start together under the blue arch
  • Athletes will complete 3 laps of the running track and WALK up the stairs and into the transition area
  • Transition area will be within the small cafe area at the side of the swimming pool. Each team will have a box to place their kit - a 15 second penalty will apply if any athletes do not place their running kit within the team box
  • Athletes will take off their running kit, place it in the team box, put on their swim cap and goggles and WALK towards lane 1. Athletes will step into the pool and swim 2 lengths anti-clockwise in lane 1 then move to lane 2 and complete 2 lengths in the same manner and so on moving across the lanes, finishing in lane 6.
  • Athletes then exit the pool at lane 6 and enter the tag zone at the side of the pool where they pass the baton to the next team member.
  • The next member will WALK down the stairs and move towards the running track where they will follow the same course as athlete 1.
  • The last team member will complete their swim, exit the pool and then walk towards the top of the pool to the finish line.
